Newspapers are an extraordinary primary source, which you can search how the Civil War was covered in both the North and the South.

For the Northern point of view search the Historical Chicago Tribune and the Historical New York Times both dating back to around 1850 through the links below. To search in either Newspaper, you will need to narrow the date to either the precise date, a date range, or to before or after a certain date using the Search Options.
