History has its own citation style, which students can consult using A Pocket Guide to Writing in History by Mary Lynn Rampolla, 7th Ed. The Lewis University Library has a copy of the guide in its reference collection.
Rampolla uses the standard history citation style, which is often called the Chicago Manual of Style or Turabian, after Kate L. Turabian's A Manual for Writers of Research Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, which is the condensed version of the Chicago Manual of Style. Rampolla is the even more condensed version.
