The version of the Illinois Compiled Statutes that appears on this site is updated on an ongoing basis. Recent Public Acts may not yet be incorporated into the version of the Illinois Compiled Statutes that appears on this site. Those Public Acts will be incorporated at a later time.

Public Acts are added to this site soon after they become law. To determine the most current law, you must check the Public Acts.

The Illinois Administrative Code is the result of the Illinois Administrative Procedure Act (IAPA) as amended by (5 ILCS 100/). The Act requires the Secretary of State to develop a codification system for the administrative rules of tate agencies. A plan for codification was adopted by the Secretary of State as a set of rules in July of 1998 (22 Ill. Reg. 11532, effective July 1, 1998). The codification system ensures uniformity in format, style, and numbering of the agencies’ rules. The purpose of the Code is to provide public access to the rules filed by state agencies with the Office of the Secretary of State Administrative Code Division.

The Illinois Register is the official state document for publishing public notice of rulemaking activity initiated by State governmental agencies. The table of contents is arranged categorically by rulemaking activity and alphabetically by agency within each category.
This electronic document is not the official publication of the Illinois Register. The official publication is produced once a week by the Secretary of State and is available with a subscription by contacting the Index Department at 217-782-7017. While every attempt has been made to ensure accuracy and reliability, the electronic version of the Illinois Register should not be cited as an official or authoritative source.
