The Assignment

You need to find information related to a specific country's health beliefs and practices. This may include finding out how their healthcare system is organized, and what education is required for nursing professionals in that country. It may also involve gathering statistics on the costs of healthcare or nurse-to-patient ratios in that country.

"Discuss how cultural, ethnic, and social beliefs influence or contribute to responses to health, health promotion, acute illness, and chronic illness?

You will need to investigate a few different types of sources for this assignment.  They are:

  • a peer-reviewed article from within the last 5 years
  • One credible website (.edu, .org, or .gov)

These sources must contain information about that country's population, healthcare system, and beliefs and practices, and how this influences their healthcare decision-making.  You may also come across a specific health disparity or disease that significantly affects the country.  You will also need to gather statistics for this assignment.  Please look at the following sources below that can help you complete this assignment.

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

When finding information on nurse-to-patient ratios, you would need to determine if you need actual reported data or articles discussing how important this topic is.

Currently, there is no average number of nurse-to-patient ratios in the United States as a whole, so you would need to look at this at a state level.

Below are some links to help you find data and further information on this topic.
