How to import citations in bulk

To import a set of citations from Google Scholar into RefWorks, please follow these directions:

1.  Open Google Scholar, sign in to your account, and select "My Library."

2.  Select either "All Articles," or if you have a custom list, please select that list.

3.  Select "Export All."

4.  Select "RefMan."

5.  A "citations.ris" fike will be downloaded in your browser.

6.  Open RefWorks, and sign in to your account.

7.  Select "Add," and then "Import References" at the top.

8.  Choose the "select a file from your computer," and navigate to where you saved the "citations.ris" file.  Usually, this is in your Downloads folder.

9.  Select from this screen, "RIS Format,"  or any other format you would like from the list.

10.  Click on "Import."  RefWorks will ask if you want to put them in a folder.  You may do this if you wish to keep your citations organized.  In this example, I have a folder called "Google Scholar," that I have selected.  You can also use the "Create Folder" option.

11.  Then click "Import" again, and you should see this screen.
