Public Relations (Bergman)

Step 2: Narrow Your List to the Top 100

To get your list down to a manageable 100, start with a quick visual scan. You'll probably be able to cross off a lot of companies based on hints given by the name or location. If you have an especially long list, use a library database to filter results by attributes such as industry or number of employees.

Filtering Your List

TIP: For a more focused version of your geographic list, follow the directions in Step 1 but fill in additional information on the search page, including the following:

  • Number of employees (minimum or maximum)
  • Industry
  • Sales/Revenue

TIP: For a more focused version of your geographic list, follow the instructions in Step 1, but take advantage of these additional filters:

  • Change the dropdown menu next to the search box to Keyword Search and enter terms related to your preferred industry or type of business.
  • Limit by number of employees (maximum or minimum)
  • Limit by NAICS code of your preferred industry.
