If this sounds familiar to you - we get it. It is frustrating. Hopefully, this post will help.

You are doing your research assignment and begin your search using the Library.

You know you need to sign in, so you enter your username and password (or those fields are filled in for you automatically),

but, then...you see it, the dreaded error message.

ARRGGHHH

Before you sign in again, check to make sure you are using the identical username (NOT email or Lewis ID number) and password you use to sign in on MyLewis.

  • NOTE: If your username and password are saved by the password manager in your browser (e.g., Google, Safari, Firefox, DuckDuckGo, Bing), and you had to change your password in Okta (through MyLewis), the password manager will not update the password for the Library.
    • In other words, even if your password for MyLewis changed since the last time you used the Library and the updated password was saved for MyLewis, the password held by the browser's password manager for the Library will still be the same password used the last time you signed in to the Library.
  • Why? MyLewis does not sign into the Library for you as it does for Blackboard. It only takes you to the library webpage because you don't immediately need to sign in to browse the Library collection.

Great, so how do we recommend fixing that problem?

  • Open your saved passwords and go to the password for MyLewis.
  • Then, copy and paste the password for MyLewis into the password field for the Library.
  • Using your username and not an email address or Lewis ID number should fix the problem.
  • Then your password manager should pick up that there is a new password used for the Library and save it for you (until the next time you have to change it).
  • Sometimes, the username and password are identical, but you can't get past the error page.
  • In that case, try changing the option listed under "sign in using" from a0sturo01 to a0sturo02 (image below)
