Throughout the Lewis University Library at Romeoville Campus, exhibits and displays fill the space, from both local and national initiatives, about the power of love and truth to rebuild lives. Stroll through for inspiration from the brave contributions of survivors of violence.

THE CLOTHESLINE PROJECT

We know that our students lead busy lives, and so attending a program may not easily fit into their schedule. That is why we wanted to bring the Clothesline Project to campus. The month-long display allows students the chance to pause and reflect on each of the shirts at their own pace. It also provides a way to highlight the diversity, strength, courage, and resilience of survivors and their stories.

Guest Stars: Emily & Kayla

Our office focuses on preventing sexual violence, domestic/dating violence, and stalking on campus as well as alcohol and other substance abuse. We collaborate with many on and off-campus partners (including Guardian Angel) to host awareness, education and training events for students, faculty and staff. We also work to provide services to students on campus—Emily has a space in the LRC 2 days a week where students can come to ask questions about their relationships, talk about a friend, or anything else on their mind.

Lastly, our two book displays for February are:

African Americans and Labor -- a selection of research books about the history of labor rights for African Americans

Celebrating Black Love -- a selection of fiction centering Black love

We look forward to seeing you in the library, assisting you with homework, and checking out some really good books to you!

Brought to you through the collaboration of:

  • our Lewis University Library staff,
  • our Project Director for Prevention & Outreach Kayla DeCant,
  • our Survivor Resource Specialist & SASC Preventionist with Guardian Angel Community Services Emily Morrissette
