Search databases about a specific topic (for this course and/or future courses). Think about your topic, and its main concepts.

If your topic is to locate current research on the long wait times that patients experience in hospitals and possible interventions, then think about which words might be Keywords.

Using some of the terms from the statement above, Keywords might be patient and wait time and interventions. 

Using the Advanced Search in either Primo, CINAHL, MEDLINE, etc.

• Enter multiple terms that describe your topic, one per search box row (if using the Advanced Search).  If you are using the Simple Search in Primo, type your keywords out with spaces in between.
• If you have a research question - take the main concepts from that research question. Those words will become your keywords to use in a search.
• Use quotation marks when entering a keyword phrase like "wait time." This will ensure that the words are searched together, rather than individually.
•  Quotation marks are not used when entering a single word like patient.
